The brief required a new house on a block with north facing the street. This posed the problem of how to get north facing light into traditional rear garden activities such as living and kitchen areas.
The end result was a combination of living facing the north and casual living facing the south but with layers of windows in between to allow the north light to penetrate through the rear. The house is also stepped down to allow for a wine cellar at the back of the garage. |
